Aegagropila linnaei
(Cladophora aegagropila)

Moss Ball

This is not actually a moss but an alga - obviously the only one that is desired in the aquarium. The individual balls are placed loosely on the substrae or decoration. This non-invasive alga can be grown under a broad range of conditions and is propagated by division. If you want to learn more about this fascinating alga (including its new name), please read this article in Wikipedia.
