Blyxa japonica

Dwarf Asian Grass

Distinctive, unusual yet classic. Keep in soft water with abundant free iron and provide rich, clayey substrate. Unlike B. aubertii, this species wil develop numerous side-shoots which can be used as cuttings. This makes it a persevering plant under aquarium conditions. There are wonderful Nature Aquariums showcasing this plant. Leaves are bent outward towards the tips. This is a unique feature of this Blyxa. An absolutely wonderful plant! The second image shows a specmen after 6 weeks in the aquarium. We have kept this plant for many months without any problems. Don't illuminate too brightly to keep its colour green and prevent algae.

As a side note: The plants we ship have been harvested from mother plants and don't have many roots. Whilst this is normal, you need to take care when planting and be patient with it for the first few weeks.
